Brett Miller charges from 14th to 7th at Silver Dollar Speedway

By Gary Thomas

Chico, CA – May 5, 2008…So far this early season Chico’s Brett Miller has shown the ability to pass cars and he was on the charge once again this past Friday night at Silver Dollar Speedway by carving his way to seventh after starting in the 14th position. The fifth Feather Falls Casino point race at the Chico track was sponsored by Ashley Furniture and it featured a stacked field of 31 sprint cars, which saw a handful of Golden State Challenge Series regulars on hand.

In qualifying Miller cut a smooth first lap, but a slight bobble on the second one put the Care Free Pools, Platinum Powder Coating Maxim 21st quickest. The 18 year-old driver started from the pole in his heat race and fell into line second, before getting passed by former GSC and Silver Dollar Speedway champs Tim Kaeding and Jonathan Allard. Miller remained composed though and drove the final few laps solidly in fourth to transfer into the main event.

The 25 lap feature saw the “Catfish” line-up outside the seventh row and he was on the march right from the get go. He immediately blew by several cars and spent much of the race trying hard to get by Mason Moore for sixth. Miller stayed close to Moore but couldn’t get by and crossed the line in seventh to score his third seventh place finish in the Feather Falls Casino point season.

For 2008 Care Free Pools Racing team owner Bill Bell has come up with a great idea to help support the Humane Society located in Chico, California. For this season the Care Free Pools No. 1x sprinter will feature the Humane Society’s logo on the race car as well as on the trailer that transports the car from track to track. This past season the team put over 10,000 miles on the truck and a trailer, going up and down the highway every weekend from March till November,

with many of the events taking place more than 4 ½ hours away from home.

This will give the organization much exposure to a broad base of fans from week to week and in addition to that, the team will donate a portion of its winnings and sponsor money to the Humane Society. “I think this will be a great way to help raise funds and get publicity for the Humane Society,” Bell said. “They are in need of a new building and I can’t think of a better way than to help them raise the funds to build one.” Members of the Humane Society will also attend various races during the season, along with Care Free Pools night at Silver Dollar Speedway on August 8.

With the 2008 sprint car racing season rapidly approaching, Brett and the Care Free Pools Racing team are looking forward to getting everything started. Look for Care Free Pools Racing to focus on the Feather Falls Casino Friday Night Point championship at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, CA as well as running in select other races with various sanctioning bodies during the season.
